Congratulations to Helen for winning The Biggest Loser last night. She looked great! A little on the too skinny side but better than over 100 pounds ago.
Did anyone else think that the show was way to long? I mean two hours was bad enough, but three hours was just a bit to ridiculous. I think there was at least an hours worth of commercials.
I always enjoy seeing how people transform when they lose weight as it is very motivating! Everyone looked great and Jerry losing 177 pounds was incredible. Although my husband and I thought he was 80 and were shocked when we learned he was in his early sixties.
Quick someone get Jerry a stick of butter, as I have heard that fat is part of looking young. Our bodies love fat! So eat up and forget about that low fat diet mentality.
BTW Today is Day 4 of the Summer Weight Loss Bootcamp Challenge!

Today is Day 3 of the Summer Weight Loss Bootcamp Challenge. I hope things are going well for everyone. I am finally back in the groove again mentally! I did two vacations 5 weeks apart to visit family and this really took a toll on my sleeping, exercising and eating. Although I did stay pretty true to my low carb diet on both trips and did not gain weight nor lose any both times.
Now that the vacations are over I have the rest next 30 days to kick start my weight loss and the rest of the summer to keep up the intensity and motivation.
It was a good feeling though on our 10 and 11 hour car trips respectively that I was able to not have any leg or back pain from sitting in the car.
A hundred pounds ago I couldn't go more than 2 hours in a car without having horrible leg and back pain. I am guessing it was from all the extra weight.
I will never understand how people that are 100 or more pounds overweight could say they are happy and comfortable being that heavy.

I have been doing this for a year now and I have to admit that although I have had great results do grow weary of having to work so hard at weight loss. This feeling that it is going to take forever can sometimes lead to slip ups. Whether you are cheating on carb laden treats or just over eating low carb legal foods these things can stall your weight loss and even cause weight gain.
That is why I started the 30 day boot camp challenge to help people stay motivated for short periods of time rather than focusing on the year or more that it will take to reach your goal weight.
What it your goal for the next 30 days? Mine is to lose at least 10 pounds.

Today is the first day of the LowCarbDiva Summer Weight Loss Bootcamp Challenge. If you are struggling in your weight loss, just starting out or need a recharge. This bootcamp is for you.
The first bootcamp will run from May 10, 2009 - June 6, 2009. Below are the Summer Weight Loss Bootcamp Rules:
1. Weigh yourself today - get your starting weight and write it down.
I know a lot of people advise that you should not get on the scale and just go by your measurements and how your clothes feel, but at LowCarbDiva we are going to do things a little bit different. We are going to weigh once a week and only once a week. If the number on the scale doesn't change we are not going to get depressed and scarf down a box of Little Debbie Snack cakes. Instead we are going to keep plugging away.
2. Take your measurements and write them down. Always take the measurement on the largest most hanging area of fat on your body (this is for inner thighs and arms). Waist measurements should be easy. For men you measure at the point around your belly button.
3. Make sure you are eating enough protein. The formula I use is your current weight (in pounds) divided by 2.2. You can usally go +/- 10% from this number.
4. Decide on what plan you are going to do and follow it. Don't switch plans in the middle of boot camp because you are not seeing results as quickly as you want.
5. This is for anyone who is having trouble losing weight - you must create a calorie deficit no matter what plan you are on. So if you are stalled you should enter your calories into fitday or another food diary type program to find out if eating too much is the cause of your stall.
6. No cheats allowed. I don't care if it is your birthday next week. That piece of cake is not going to make you feel better the next day. Besides this is only for 30 days after that it will be your choice if you want to continue.
7. Exercise - I recommend 3 days of week of resistance training and 3 days of cardio for 30 minutes (work up to it if you have to).
8. Prepare as many whole, non processed fresh meals as possible. Cooking from scratch can be a pain, but at least you will know what you are eating. A crockpot can be a great tool! Also pre-cooking food for the week can hekp you stick to your new way of eating.
9. Get rid of all diet sodas and crystal light. Drink only water!
10. Never forget that the only time you will fail is when you stop trying.
